14570 with reference to paragraph 6 of my Des-

patch No. 134 of 18th. March and paragraph 2 of my Despatch

DD No. 262 of 22nd. ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that

Dr. Atkinson has now submitted his report on the question of

the clerical staff of the Sanitary Department, and to transmit

herewith a copy thereof for your favourable consideration.

Attached to the Report is a schedule showing

the salaries of the various officers concerned; the names of

those who are on the temporary establishment only are distinguish

Dr. Atkinson recommends that the post of

Head Clerk in the office of the Medical Officer of Health be

abolished, that the pay of the Correspondence Clerk be raised,

and that two junior Clerks be dispensed with and 1 Clerk

in Class VI appointed' in their place. In these recommendations
